With the real-world season well underway, excitement is high for F1 22. The biggest new feature for this year's game, as noted in our early preview, is VR, which gives the intense sim racing an all-new perspective. If you're trying to play in virtual reality yourself, you'll see that it's not immediately clear how it works. We've got a guide on how to play in VR in F1 22 to help with that.
We'll go over what headsets you can use to play F1 22 in VR and how to actually start playing once your game is loaded up, since it can be confusing.

How to Play F1 22 in VR
Actually playing F1 22 in VR can be a little confusing at first, and that is down to the implementation of it in the game.
Once you've turned on your VR headset and set it up with the game on PC, you'll be playing the game in cinema mode, with your VR display only showing the action as a traditional flat image. Don't worry about that, though. Continue to start and play the game as you normally would.
That's because it is the racing and only the racing that can be played in VR in F1 22. As soon as you choose to go to track, the perspective will switch to full VR automatically: it's just the menus that appear flat - perhaps to make navigating them as easy as can be.
You don't have to change any options in game to get VR to work. As long as you can see the game in cinema mode while in the menus, you'll be able to play F1 22 in VR without any issues.
F1 22 VR Platforms
F1 22 can be played in VR with most modern PC VR headsets. Below is the full list of compatible headsets:
- Oculus Quest 2 (with Link Cable)
- Oculus Rift S
- HTC Vive
- HTC Vive Pro
- HTC Vive Pro 2
- HTC Vive Cosmos
If anymore are added down the line, we'll be sure to update you.
Can You Play F1 22 With PSVR?
Unfortunately, F1 22 is not compatible with PlayStation VR at all. That may be due to how old that VR technology is now.
If PlayStation players are hoping to play an F1 game in VR, they'll probably have to wait until the release of PSVR 2 and maybe the release of F1 23.
Both should release next year, so hopefully F1 VR is brought to more players then.
