What Is Outbreak?

Outbreak is a large-scale, team-based game mode that will feature both Requiem and Omega groups battle it out in a bid to close Dark Aether rifts that have appeared within the confines of the map.

With Dark Aether rifts present, it’s more than likely that players will encounter waves of the undead trying to halt their progress.

The mode is believed to be similar to Fireteam, meaning there will be at least five objectives for players to complete at any one time.

Zombies Outbreak Challenges

Information uncovered by @ZestyCODLeaks suggests that Outbreak is a limited-time that is separate to Warzone but also linked to the battle royale at the same time.

Rather than using Die Maschine and Firebase Z to host this new game mode, Outbreak will be played on a “large-scale” Fireteam map.

According to @Okami13_, the mode has been described as “open-world Zombies”,

Zombies Outbreak Mode Release Date

If rumours are to be believed, Outbreak could be arriving as soon as the release of Season Two, which is set to release between the end of February and early March.

Considering the large-scale map the mode will be played on, some rumours have suggested that Outbreak will release alongside the brand-new Warzone map which is set to release in March to commemorate the first anniversary of the battle royale.

Zombies Outbreak Mode Rewards

Leaks have revealed that there will be two rewards that can be earned by completing all Warzone and Outbreak challenges before the end of the event.

First posted by @ZestyCODLeaks, players can "unlock the two exclusive Event Blueprints" by completing the challenges.

A PlayStation Exclusive?

Sony’s deal with Call of Duty publisher Activision is often a hot topic of conversation, but it does grant PlayStation players the ability to play exclusive content.

The Onslaught mode for Zombies is only available to PlayStation users, and there’s every chance that the same could happen to Outbreak, much to the annoyance of Zombies players playing on PC and Xbox.
