Remedy’s Control spin-off, Operation Condor, enters production in 2024 with a budget of $27.1 million. Further details reveal that it will be a “fixed price” live service multiplayer game for all platforms.

Remedy Entertainment's annual financial report discussed a few details about its upcoming live service spin-off of Control, Codename Condor. One of these details reveals that the game will not be free to play, joining the ranks of service-based spin-off games like Fallout 76.

Remedy announced in 2021 that it had signed a co-development and publishing agreement with 505 Games, the original owner of the 'Control' franchise, to develop Codename Condor. The studio later announced in February of this year that it had acquired the full rights to the franchise.

In the annual report, Remedy said that joining the game would have a fixed price. For now, users need not worry about hefty entry rates since the report describes the game as having a “lower initial price point."

Like its contemporaries, Codename Condor is expected to have a continuous stream of additional content through updates and expansions. Describing these as “a long tail of revenue,” Remedy said there is a possibility for micro-transactions at some point in the future.

The game also appears to be similar in gameplay mechanics to coop-based survival horror games like Dead by Daylight, Left 4 Dead, and many others.

Remedy described a world where the Oldest House is locked down following the Hiss Invasion, trapping survivors of the Federal Bureau of Control within. Faced with “a boiling pot of volatile and dangerous supernatural forces,” these survivors must fight against the invaders and regain control.

“Desperate times require desperate measures. And everyone’s needed,” the report said of the game.

Codename Condor will enter production this year with a reported budget of $27.1 million. Although no release date has been confirmed, the game is expected to be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
