Konami Announces Metal Gear Survive at Gamescom

Konami announces Metal Gear Survive at Gamescom

During Gamescom, Konami have announced a new instalment in the Metal Gear franchise, however, it’s nothing like the Metal Gear we know and love.

Without Hideo Kojima, the future of the franchise was uncertain, but it is now clear that Konami will support the beloved series, as they reveal Metal Gear Survive.

Metal Gear Survive is a four player co-op experience in which players must work together to fight off hordes of biological "zombie" enemies. However, while it may sound and look interesting, the concept is far from original and seems to distance itself from the iconic MGS theme of stealth and espionage.

The trailer shows hints of familiar characters, but it's uncertain how much of a role they will play in this new instalment. Metal Gear Survive will take place in an alternate timeline within the Metal Gear universe, directly after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

Will you give this drastically different MGS game a try or do you think Konami is missing the mark? Let us know in the comments below.

Metal Gear Survive is scheduled for a 2017 release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
