Mortal Kombat 1 is gearing up for its Khaos Reigns expansion, and NetheRealm Studios has been slowly revealing its roster of incoming characters.
Though he was part of the base roster of Mortal Kombat 11, this time, they’ve decided to bring classic character Noob Saibot back in the form of DLC. Now, he has a new origin and a new set of moves.
Noob Saibot Gameplay Reveal
In a recently released gameplay trailer, Noob Saibot is given the spotlight; and just like the previous versions of the character, he’s still a version of Bi-Han, a.k.a. Sub-Zero.
Just like previous versions of Noob, this version can summon a clone which he can use to attack his opponents. He also has a teleporting ability, which allows him to zip all over the arena, making him one annoying character to fight.
Noob Saibot in the Original Games
Though the Mortal Kombat franchise has given Noob Saibot a very elaborate backstory with him being the wraith version of Bi-Han/Sub-Zero, fans know that he’s one of the ‘Palette Swap Ninjas’ in the game.
Introduced in Mortal Kombat II, Noob Saibot was a ninja who could use his shadow during fights. His name is based on the Mortal Kombat co-creator's names spelled backward—Noob for Ed Boon and Saibot for John Tobias.
Noob Saibot has since been considered a classic character for the franchise, and he finds more and more ways of showing up in the new games. With him taking the spotlight in MK11, though, it does feel right that they decided to push back the Noob Saibot story for an expansion. After all, the main story deals with the conflict between two Sub-Zeroes, Bi-Han and Kuai Liang. Only in this timeline is Kuai Scorpion rather than Sub-Zero.
Khaos Reigns Character Roster
Noob is the third character to get the spotlight for the upcoming expansion, the previous two being Sektor and Cyrax, who have been ret-conned as cyborgs into human women with ninja Iron Man armor. Other incoming characters will be from outside the MK franchise with the T-1000 (Terminator 2: Judgement Day), Conan the Barbarian (from the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie of the same name), and Ghostface (from the Scream franchise).
The expansion will also come with unique cosmetics for existing characters, and pre-ordering will give players a special set of skins for Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Mileena, and Noob.
