- Players are giving mixed but mostly positive reactions to this new wave of bans for Modern Warfare 3 Season 3.
In the latest update to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Treyarch Studios has decided to ban some problematic weapons. These weapons had been a source of frustration for many players due to how common they were in ranked games.
Treyarch Studios announced their new list of banned weapons:
"The #MW3RankedPlay Weapon Evaluation has concluded, and the following weapons have been restricted."
ARs
SMGs
They added "Thank you for your feedback and gameplay data! @CODLeague, @SHGames, and our teams will discuss findings and share an update after the launch of Season 3 Reloaded."
In the comments to this post, lots of players were demanding that the WSP Swarm also get a ban. Funnily enough, this happened not too long after.
Since then another user noticed that a weapon not mentioned in the initial list has also been banned. A user posted an update that "The WSP Swarm has been restricted in Ranked Play".
The bans have been met with mixed but mostly positive reactions if you go through the player feedback. Most players reiterated that the point of Ranked is to play like the Pros and these weapons are not allowed in pro gameplay. Therefore it only makes sense to remove them from regular Ranked.
However, others were upset because they feel that removing these weapons increased the Time To Kill and made the game more boring. In response to these other players, many replied that this is a good thing because too many bad players rely on these weapons as a crutch for their lack of skill.
The discourse is only heating up and we're sure that Treyarch Studios will keep a close eye on the impact of these changes on Modern Warfare 3's competitive mode once season 3 starts.
This evaluation will decide whether they will now choose to rebalance weapons or will they keep up their streak of banning them and leaving players with fewer options to choose from.
