After nearly a year in the spotlight, the Call of Duty: Vanguard cycle is nearing its end. After four and a half seasons, Sledgehammer Games’ latest instalment in the franchise missed the mark with a return to World War II, resulting in focus switching almost exclusively to Warzone.
Throughout the year, the Call of Duty League (CDL) sees the best Vanguard teams in the world battle it out on a regular basis for thousands in prize money. With the season-ending CDL Champs event on the horizon, the top eight regular-season teams will face off for a chance to win the lion’s share of $2.55m in prize money.
Hours before the action is due to commence, players have uncovered an exploit that could overshadow the biggest event of the season.
Vanguard x-ray glitch could ruin Champs
A Reddit post published on August 2, 2022, showcases the x-ray glitch which allows players to see through a number of breakable surfaces on the map. The video shows a number of examples across various maps, implying the issue impacts every aspect of multiplayer.
The required distance for the exploit to work is unknown but based on the video, those using a sniper rifle can make destructible walls and window frames disappear with ease.
Although the issue has a huge impact on every single Vanguard map, there’s little Sledgehammer Games can do before Champs begins on August 4. With the exploit in play, it could influence strategies that teams have developed in recent weeks. There is an option to disable all destructible elements but such a drastic change could do more harm than good.
Sledgehammer Games hasn’t issued a response yet but considering the severity of the exploit, a fix should appear in a future update.
