Thanks to its extensive arsenal of weaponry, Warzone 2 players have a huge amount of options when it comes to building the strongest loadouts. Throughout the opening season the meta has remained stable, meaning there are only a few guns that stand out from the crowd.
As Season Two moves into view, the lack of weapon variety is resulting in a boring meta, much to the frustration of players dropping into Al Mazrah. The issue has become so widespread that there are regular calls for Infinity Ward and Raven Software to intervene to create some variety before a brand-new Resurgence map makes its debut.
Many players believe that certain Light Machine Guns (LMGs) are extremely overpowered but there’s one in particular that many believe needs a major nerf.
Warzone 2 LMG needs a huge nerf
According to Reddit user VeraKorradin, the RPK is the sole LMG that needs a hefty nerf in order to restore some balance. “It seems like the RPK is a little OP and tends to be everyone’s loadout gun with exactly the same attachments.”
Thanks to its high damage output, accuracy, and versatility, the RPK is the go-to weapon for many players looking to gain the upper hand in mid-range and long-distance engagements. VeraKorradin even goes as far as saying that the immense power is “really trying to take the skill out of the game.”

On the other hand, there are members of the community that believe the dominance of the RPK isn’t as bad as previous weapon metas from the Verdansk era. “Still less OP than all the metas in Warzone 1,” comments another before suggesting the Fennec submachine gun (SMG) needs a nerf before the RPK.
Thankfully, Infinity Ward has confirmed weapon balancing is on its way in the Season Two update, so it won’t be long until the RPK is replaced at the top of the Warzone 2 meta.
