Throughout the years, Call Of Duty has progressively worked to include new mechanics into its games, encouraging more competitive gameplay and giving players more room for technical explorations.
Slide-cancel was one of these ‘additions.’ Making its debut in Call Of Duty’s Modern Warfare in 2019, the movement mechanic quickly became the talk of the town.
With the release of Black Ops 6’s Omnimovement, it is vital to know how to slide-cancel so as not to be on the receiving end of the offense during gunfights. Read on to learn how to slide cancel in Black Ops 6.
Black Ops 6’s Omnimovement & Slide Cancel
Slide-cancel has been a game-changer since its release, but with Omnimovement as the new movement mechanic for Call Of Duty Black Ops 6, will it still be as effective? Here’s what we know.
Omnimovement will allow players to slide, dive, and move in all directions. This mechanic was brought to encourage more realism during competitive matches. However, since slide-cancel is technically impossible to perform in real life, the mechanic will arguably play a negative role in Black Ops 6.
Numerous discussions in the gaming community and hands-on gameplay revealed that although slide cancel is doable, it has a ‘delay’ in between due to longer dives and slide durations. Plus, while players couldn’t counter the movement in previous titles, Omnimovement does the opposite.
How to Slide Cancel in Black Ops 6?
While it is highly likely that the era of slide-cancels is over—or at least reduced significantly—it does not mean that the mechanic cannot benefit you in its entirety.
Despite having a longer slide (and dive) duration, perfect timing with a slide-cancel can still make all the difference. Ironically, it’s back to its debut days, where players wouldn’t expect a slide-cancel and get surprised mid-gunfights.
Fundamentally, slide-cancels are done similarly across all platforms. You begin with a Tac Sprint, followed by hitting the Crouch button. This triggers the sliding animation in your character. Clicking the Jump button mid-animation allows you to break the slide and return to your original state. This is all there is to a slide cancel.
