Any new Diablo game has action packed gameplay and requires you to stay focused, therefore, you might be wondering whether you can disable the chat in Diablo 4 so it won't distract you as you play.
In Diablo 4, you will have to go through plenty of dungeons full of powerful enemies, and a single mistake can lead to death and even cause the loss of your progress if you play on hardcore mode. Thus, disabling the chat might be a great option if you want to focus on the gameplay only.

Can you disable chat in Diablo 4?
Unfortunately, you cannot turn off the chat in Diablo 4 completely, but you still have the option to switch off some messages that may distract you. To do that, you should follow these steps:
- First of all, you should go to the Main Menu by pressing the ESC button.
- After that, open the "Options" menu.
- Next, choose the "Social" tab and scroll down a bit. You are looking for the "Chat Setting" and "Chat Bubbles" sections.
- Finally, you have to unselect all the boxes.
If you want to turn on the chat, then you should follow the same steps listed above. Take into account that you are not able to turn off Party, Clan, and Whisper messages.
That's pretty much it. Even though it is impossible to disable the chat in Diablo 4 completely, you can switch off some of the most annoying messages.
