Hitman 3: How To Import Hitman and Hitman 2 Content
IO Interactive has released a sizeable blog post, but here are the basics:
- You can only import data from Hitman 2 – any Hitman 2016 progress will need to be imported into Hitman 2, and then onto Hitman 3.
- The carry-over is a "one-time-only" process, so once you've moved your data, you won't be able to transfer it again.
- You can't swap between platforms – so it's a strictly PlayStation to PlayStation, Xbox to Xbox, or PC to PC transfer
- If you carry your data over, you'll overwrite any progress in Hitman 3 – so try to do it at the start
What Can Be Carried Over?
According to IO:
The following progression will be included in the carryover process: player profile, XP rank, location mastery levels, location mastery unlocks, challenge progress, challenge unlocks and Elusive Target suits/unlocks. Savegame files are not carried over.
Note that there are a small amount of items/unlocks that are not carried over through this process, such as the rewards unlocked through the HITMAN 1 GOTY Escalations, because they are linked to a purchase. Those items will be available in HITMAN 3 when you redeem access to the associated content. In addition, the ICA Electrocution Phone has been retired and will not be available in HITMAN 3.
How To Transfer
PlayStation/Xbox Players
If you're playing on any PlayStation or Xbox console (including PS5 or Series S/X), you'll need to sign into your account via this site.
You'll also need to download the "Access Pass" from your storefront, which will be automatically available for free. This will unlock Hitman and Hitman 2 content in Hitman 3.
Once you've moved your data across, you're all set.
PC
For PC players, you'll be moving from Steam to Epic.
IO has set up Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2 as DLC for Hitman 3 on the Epic Games Store, with an Access Pass required to transfer that data across.
That's not currently possible, but IO is investigating a solution with Epic Games to enable a carryover without needing to pay extra. We'll update this as we hear more.
Stadia
If you've been playing Hitman or Hitman 2 on Stadia, good news – your data will automatically carry over, as will your locations and legacy content.
Nintendo Switch
Sorry Switch fans – since Hitman 2 didn't appear on Nintendo's platform, there's no carryover.
