Free-to-play digital trading card game Parallel TCG is hosting its first major tournament with a prize pool of $25,000.
Developed by Parallel Studios, Parallel is an upcoming digital TCG set 10,000 years in the future. Similar to games like Magic: The Gathering, Runeterra and Hearthstone, players build 40-card decks to battle rivals and secure victory.
Still yet to release, Parallel is set to start its first major tournament on December 8, 2023 at 2PM EST. Running until December 9, the tournament will feature a prize pool of $25,000 split across eight players.
The Parallel TCG tournament will be held in a Swiss Style format, the same format seen in tournaments for games such as MTG. This means that competitors are not eliminated, but continue competing for placements. This means that every player — including your favourite — will play the same number of rounds as everyone else.
Whoever takes first place will earn the top prize of $10,000 followed by second place at $6,250, third at $3,750 and fourth at $2,500. The remaining four players will earn a prize of $675.
Hosted by iconic casters Alliestrasza and Deathsie, the Parallel TCG tournament features a number of beloved pro players competing for the top prize.
Amidst the competition is 2022 Hearthstone world champion Raphael Peltzer, aka Bunnyhoppor. Hearthstone pro and popular Twitch streamer TrumpSC, 2016 Hearthstone player of the year Thijs, Team Liquid Hearthstone pro Slysssa and ex-Hearthstone developer/Twitch streamer TeraJN are all competing.
The Parallel TCG 2023 tournament will be viewable across multiple Twitch channels. On the first day, viewers will be able to watch the proceedings on the aforementioned Twitch streamers’ personal channels. However, the finals on December 9, 2023 will be viewable on the official Parallel TCG Twitch channel here.
As the first major tournament for the digital TCG, Parallel is going hard on its esports debut. While the game has yet to release, Parallel TCG can be wishlisted on Steam right here.
