Resident Evil is officially 25 now, and Capcom is celebrating the Resident Evil 25th anniversary with some new announcements and plenty to look forward to in the coming month.
The first is more of a tease about Resident Evil Village than an announcement, though it’ll more than likely be worth it once the time comes. And we mean “tease.” Capcom didn’t even say when the new Resident Evil Village news will be — just vaguely when we can expect to learn more.
The second is about the surprise Resident Evil battle royale game Resident Evil Re:Verse. Following the game’s closed beta in February, Capcom is hosting a Resident Evil Re:Verse open beta in April with just one important requirement.

Capcom Announces Resident Evil Village April Showcase, Re:Verse Open Beta
Capcom will host a Resident Evil Village showcase sometime in April.
As for whether the RE Village April showcase will show us more about Ethan Winters’ plight, why Chris Redfield is suddenly A) swol again and B) a murderer, and what — or whose — secrets lie buried in Castle Dimitrescu’s dungeon, Capcom won’t say.
Resident Evil Re:Verse’s open beta begins April 7 and runs through April 11 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.
Those who didn’t take part in the closed beta should register a Capcom ID if they want to take part in the open beta.
While the full Resident Evil Re:Verse will include characters from throughout the series, the open beta is limited to Jill Valentine, Claire and Chris Redfield, Ada Wong, and Hunk.
Re:Verse points out players with the highest point score for easier targeting, but this is Resident Evil.
Death isn’t the end.
Dying in Re:Verse means your character respawns as a bioweapon with strength dependent on how many virus vials you found while alive.
Respawning turns your RE hero into a villain, including Nemesis and the monstrous Jack Baker, and gives you a chance for sweet zombie revenge.
