Does Rocket League Sideswipe Have Controller Support?

The good news is that yes, Rocket League Sideswipe does have controller support! This means you can link your own peripherals to your mobile device to play, giving you increased precision when in matches. Equally, we know for a fact that both PlayStation and Xbox controllers are compatible with Rocket League Sideswipe, meaning console owners can play in the exact same way as they would on their system of choice.

However, at present, this controller support only lets you use the game's base controls with your controller. Therefore, Rocket League Sideswipe does not let you customise the control scheme to your liking. If, for example, you prefer the boost to be activated by a different command, you sadly can't arrange that with Rocket League Sideswipe at this moment in time. Since the ability to remap controls is somewhat limited, you may not be able to hone your controls to be exactly as you desire. However, it's worth remembering that the game is still new, so this functionality will more than likely arrive in a future update.

How Do I Connect My Controller To Rocket League Sideswipe?

Even though you may not be able to hone your Rocket League Sideswipe controller to your exact desires, the good news is that connecting your controller and remapping the buttons is nice and easy.

To connect your controller to your mobile device, you'll need to use Bluetooth. Whether playing with a PlayStation, Xbox, or third-party controller, you'll need to activate its search settings manually, then find it in your mobile device's pairing menu. Once connected, you should be able to automatically use your controller in Rocket League Sideswipe.

Once you've linked your controller to the game, the chances are you'll want to tweak a few controls. To do this, head to the Rocket League Sideswipe menu, then select Game Settings. There's a Control Customisation menu to choose that lets you swap certain commands like jumping or boosting to different spaces on the touchscreen. Sadly, these changes cannot be made to a controller, so you can't remap buttons on your external gamepad. Hopefully it's a feature that will arrive in future updates, but as of now, you'll have to use the Rocket League Sideswipe controller schemes that already exist in-game.

Which Controllers Work With Rocket League Sideswipe?

As it's a relatively new game, you can imagine that a lot of mobile gamers will flock to Rocket League Sideswipe, hoping to use their own peripherals in matches. Considering the brand's immense popularity and the undeniable appeal of a Rocket League game on mobile, the good news is that all compatible Bluetooth controllers will work with the game.

If you have a controller, be it for a console or a dedicated mobile peripheral, that can connect to your mobile device via Bluetooth, it'll do the job with Rocket League Sideswipe. That's according to developer Psyonix Labs itself, which confirmed that any controller that works with your device will also work with the game. Of course, the only way to be 100% certain is to test it out, which is luckily nice and simple to do.

That's everything you need to know about controller compatibility in Rocket League Sideswipe. We've gone over whether the game lets you link your external controller to play in matches, as well as how to do it, and which devices are compatible. While the ability to remap buttons sadly isn't present yet, it's the sort of thing that will no doubt arrive in future updates, so keep your eyes peeled!
