Looking for love? Then you'll most likely be happy with The Sims 4 Lovestruck expansion from Maxis.

One of the most exciting things a Sims 4 player can do is manage the love life of one of their Sims. It's not only fun from start to finish, but the outcome is that you can continue your family and take on a new Sim.

The downside to romance is that wooing a Sim... it can get pretty stale. Talk. Flirt. Woohoo. Repeat. Yawn.

In this guide, we'll highlight everything that you need to know about The Sims 4 Lovestruck expansion - the highs, the lows, and all the Woohoo deets that'll satisfy the thirstiest of fans.

The Sims 4 Lovestruck Release Date

The best thing about love is that you don't have to wait long to receive it. Eager players will be happy to know that The Sims 4 Lovestruck's release date has been confirmed as July 25th.

The Sims 4 Lovestruck New Features

Love is in the air, and what better way to celebrate it than with new features to spice up your game?

The Sims 4 Lovestruck New Dates

Dating just got spicier with this new expansion.

Before, a date between two Sims was pretty generalized regardless of your actual intent. Even if you were only after a physical connection, you still had to do well in the dating activity to progress through your romantic relationship at a speedier pace.

With this expansion however, things are a bit different. For one thing, you're able to choose what type of date you want, which means selecting the goals you'd like to complete by the end of it. For example, do you want to Woohoo by the end of it, or come together (behave) and dance on the dancefloor? It's entirely up to you now.

What's more, other Sims will no longer be eager to jump in and interrupt your date unless you want them to. A great change, because now Mortimer will stop wooing your date halfway through... You're a married man, Mortimer!

As always, if a date isn't going well -- or, alternatively, going very well -- you can choose to head to a new venue midway. Either going back to your place or the cemetery to, you know, set the mood for a date gone bad...

The Sims 4 Lovestruck Dating Profiles

Sims players will know how difficult it can be to meet new people to pursue romantically. Sometimes, an email just doesn't cut it, right? Now that's a thing of the past, thanks to Cupid's Corner, a dating app and website that Sims can access via their mobile or computer.

That's right, your Sim can now make their very own dating profile and chat to Sims from the world or those in your Gallery. You can even curate your Sim's preferences by displaying age preference and sexual orientation. But our favourite thing has to be that you can take a selfie to add to your profile. It's just a realistic addition to spruce up your dating profile.

The Sims 4 Lovestruck New Romantic Interactions

With an expansion dedicated to romance, it makes sense that there would be new romantic interactions for your Sims. Here's a few that stand out:

  • Cuddle in Bed
  • Grown-Up Costume Box
  • Feed Each Other Treats

But our favourite new interaction has to be a new item called the Romantic Blanket. As the name implies, you'll be able to do all sorts of romantic things on the blanket, including, yes, WooHoo. You can also snuggle or kiss too.

The Sims 4 Lovestruck Romance Dynamics

Not every romantic relationship is made equal in real life. You can have life partners, flings, situationships, and even friends with benefits, something which isn't quite the case in The Sims 4 unless you have mods.

Enter Romance Dynamics. Thanks to this expansion, players will now be able to change the dynamic of their Sim's relationship with one another, either through Create-A-Sim or through gameplay.

As revealed by Sims Community, these dynamics are:

  • Wholesome
  • Steamy
  • Strained
  • Unpredictable

New Turn-Ons and Turn-Offs

Alongside curating their relationship dynamics with other Sims, players will be able to select what their Sims find attractive and repulsive. For example, your Sim might find other Sims who are open with their affection to be the biggest turn-on, while closed-off and emotionally unavailable Sims will make them roll their eyes.

New Traits

What is your Sim like when they are in a romantic situation? With 2 new traits, players can build up their Sim in the way they like.

The first trait, Lovebug, makes your Sim actively search for love. On the other hand, the Romantically Reserved trait makes it so the Sim takes longer to build relationships.

All of these traits come with new, unique interactions.

New Skills

It's all well and good to partake in romance, but is your Sim actually any good at it? With this new Art of Romance skill, Sims who reach level 10 will have the power to frizz any and everyone has the ability to maintain relationship satisfaction for much longer.

The skill can be practiced the moment a Sim turns into a Teen - in case you want a Sim to start early and prepare their adult life for as much wooing as possible.

New Aspirations

The new aspiration for The Sims 4 Lovestruck expansion is Romantic Explorer. Sims, with this aspiration, wants to experience all that love and romance have to offer. Their main goal is building a happy, loving relationship with their partner and relationships overall.

The Sims 4 Lovestruck Careers

Nothing quite like says love like making a quick buck out of it. Or at least, that's what you might suspect when it comes to careers in this expansion pack.

In reality, the new Romance Consultant career thrusts your Sim into their new life as an adviser for all things romantic. Like all careers in the Sims 4, it also offers branching careers: Matchmaking and Couple Therapy. Regardless of which you choose to do, you'll be poking your nose into everyone's business.

The Sims 4 Lovestruck Lots and Venues

If you wanted to find single Sims before, the unwieldy way was to create a group of single Sims, and even then, that required some fiddling to get it to work.

Now, that's a thing of the past, thanks to this expansion's addition of a new lot trait called Single Hangout. With this trait, Sims who aren't in a romantic relationship will flock there, so you'll be happy to know you can flirt without risking a marriage in the process.

As for venues, Sims who are looking for love can find it by showing off while in public places now. For example, you can dance seductively on the dancefloor, and show off your fitness to others at the gym.

The Sims 4 Lovestruck Pre-Order Bonuses

If you're desperate for The Sims 4 Lovestruck and want to get some extra goodies, then you'll be happy to know that you can grab some special bonuses if you purchase the expansion back before September 5th.

These bonuses are:

  • Cry Me A River Eyeliner
  • Herbert Heart Plush
