Even though Caldera, Warzone's latest map set in the Pacific, has yet to be released, leaks surrounding the next chapter of the immensely popular battle royale are beginning to appear, much to the surprise of the community. According to a report published by prominent leaker Tom Henderson via VGC, a new map will be launching in 2022, complete with a new setting some players may find familiar.

Following several months of silence, a fresh wave of leaks has uncovered a wealth of information on the Warzone 2 map. A report from Tom Henderson claims four classic maps from 2009's Modern Warfare 2 will arrive as new points of interest in addition to Strongholds which offer new ways for players to earn a Loadout Drop.

Numerous leaks have reportedly uncovered the location of the Warzone 2 map. 'TheGhostOfHope' suggests that the new map is located in the Atacama Desert, which would make sense considering the rumoured South American setting of the Modern Warfare II campaign.
Warzone 2022 Map Release Date
The report states that the new map is likely to release alongside Modern Warfare II, which is expected to launch in Q4 of 2022. It's unclear as to whether the MW2 map will replace Caldera, so we will have to wait and see what Infinity Ward has in store.
Warzone 2022 Map Points of Interest
As mentioned above, the map will feature several points of interest (POI) from the sequel to Call of Duty 4, including an expanded iteration of Favela, Quarry, Terminal, Trailer Park, and Afghan. Information on the size of the map wasn't revealed but we can expect it to be pretty big to cater to large-scale battle royale action.
Will The Warzone 2022 Map Replace Caldera?
Based on the previous introductions of new maps to Warzone, there's every chance that the MW2 map could replace Caldera once it releases next year. Activision has yet to comment on this happening so there is a possibility that Caldera could be staying. We will have to wait until nearer the time before we know anything more.
