The final Alan Wake 2 DLC, The Lake House, is not a particularly lengthy addition as it only has 3 hours of playtime. However, that does not mean that it isn’t a memorable experience.

This latest story expansion takes us into the Federal Bureau of Control’s clandestine research center in Cauldron Lake. Unfortunately, something went wrong inside this facility, and it’s up to FBC Agent Estevez to find answers.

New threats linger in the decrepit hallways filled with paint. The mysterious 'Painted' blend with the surroundings and can kill Estevez in one grab attack. To defeat these dangerous otherworldly threats, the Black Rock Launcher is necessary.

This guide will teach you how to acquire the new weapon exclusive to Lake House, The Black Rock Launcher.

Find the Level 2 Keycard

The keycard is found in the Control Room after your first encounter with the Shaded enemies. Remember that place filled with automated typewriters? Yeah, that’s when you know you’re going the right way. It’s not on that specific floor but found right after it since the encounter is scripted.

Deal with the enemies, then head back to the elevator. You should be on your way to Sublevel 2, where you want to be.

The keycard is found near a dead body. Once it’s done, head into the next room and unlock the doors using the computer. The code is found in our guide here. Be careful of Shaded enemies!

Return to Sublevel 1

Once you have the Level 2 Keycard, head into the Painted Floor on Sublevel 1. You can’t just head straight into this place as it exists in a separate reality. However, the DLC is linear, so it should point you there once you acquire the keycard.

The Painted Floor is surrounded by paint and canvas. This was your first encounter with the Painted enemies. You can’t kill them with regular weapons yet, but you can stun them with a Flashbang.

Move the Panels

The Black Rock Launcher is found in the Inventory Management room, but canvases block the door. You need to run past a few Painted enemies and find a switch to move them.

The Switch is found on the other side of the area, on the rightmost side of the Map. You should be familiar with this place as it’s the next room before the Save Station Bunker.

FIRE AWAY!

Once the Switch is activated, you can access the Inventory Management room and unlock the door using the Level 2 Keycard. The weapon is stored in a gun stand on the right side of the room.

The Black Rock Launcher is like Control’s weird and otherworldly weaponry. Unlike the service weapon, which changes shape depending on the situation, it is a massive grenade launcher capable of firing Black Rock ammo. Control players know Black Rock is the mysterious alien mineral carved from the Oldest House.

This is the only way to defeat the Painted. Charge the Black Rock Launcher to deliver a powerful blast to these horrors.

The Launcher’s ammo is limited, but you should have enough to make it past the final boss.
