The upcoming Alone in the Dark reboot has been a victim of numerous delays, though fans are interested in playing as David Harbour and Jodie Comer. In a nice throwback to the original game, the Deluxe Edition includes skins that turn the lead characters into their PS1 counterparts.
Discovered by Twitter user tangomushi, the Deluxe Editions come with skins that turn Harbour and Comer into their pre-reboot PS1 characters. While this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this in games, having the option to do this is still a nice bit of fanservice.
Having these skins does make the Alone in the Dark reboot more appealing, though fans will have to wait for the final product before they consider purchasing it. All fans can do is hope that this is the game that finally stops the curse of bad video games in this weird franchise.
It’s been too long since fans had a good game in the series, with some arguing that an entry hasn’t been good after the PS1 entries. Funnily enough, this isn’t even the first Alone in the Dark reboot, as an attempt to revitalize the franchise was made in 2008, which ended up bombing horribly.
Even worse than that was the multiplayer shooter made in 2015 called Alone in the Dark: Illumination, which ruined the game’s name. Why would you call a game “Alone in the Dark” when you’re playing with other people? Naturally, this game was ignored and no one cared about it.
At the least, it looks like this Alan Wake reboot is learning the right thing from modern gaming, even if it doesn’t reinvent the wheel. Granted, the numerous delays don’t exactly instill us with confidence, but we’re willing to wait and see. Let’s just hope all of these delays are being done to polish the game up.
