Just like they say you need to rest for your brain to process the day, your troupe needs to take a load off once in a while. Without knowing how to rest in Baldur's Gate 3, you'll miss out on an integral part of the game, staving off the night and keeping your team from performing at their best in the battles to come.
With dozens of buttons littering the user interface as soon as you start your first campaign, working out something as niche as resting in Baldur's Gate 3 can be an afterthought. The story moves quickly, and you'll likely move to match it, forgetting to give your freshly liberated characters room a moment to breathe. Rest easy: we'll show you how.
How to rest in Baldur's Gate 3
There are a couple of different ways you can rest in Baldur's Gate 3 - all of which relate to heading back to camp to engage in conversation, bank important or expensive items, and collect your thoughts.
You don't need to physically walk back to camp. In fact, you won't even have made one the first time you click the button that sends you there. It's one of the game's less-involved actions, and it's easy to pull off in a pinch.
To rest in Baldur's Gate 3, you just need to be out of combat. Just to the right of the large End/Enter Turn-based Mode button should be the Camp and Resting Menu button.

Clicking this will send your party to a camp in the evening, where they're free to chat about the day, restore HP and Spell Points, and use Camp Supplies before they hit the hay.
From the right side of the hotbar, you'll be able to bring up a menu. Select Short Rest to restore minor resources if you're able, or choose Long Rest to restore all that and more. You'll need to spend the stated number of points using Camp Supplies to take a Long Rest and progress to the next day.
How to leave camp in Baldur's Gate 3
Once you've all rested up, you should see the option to leave camp in the space just beneath where the Long Rest option was prior to your snooze. Click this to return to the place where you elected to head to the camp.
