If you're not used to point-and-click RPG systems, figuring out how to get to Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3 can be your first proper test.

How to get to Underdark via the Defiled Temple
To reach Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3, you have myriad options depending on your current location. The first relates to simply making your way through the Defiled Temple. You should find yourself here through the Find the Nightsong or Removing the Parasite quests. Refer to our BD3 quest list for more info.
How to get to Underdark via Zhentarim Hideout
Another option is to go through the Zhentarim Hideout. You'll wind up visiting the location while on the quest Find the Missing Shipment. As it unlocks upgraded vendor options, it's a good sidequest to clear while you're making your way to Underdark.
To reach Underdark from the Zhentarim Hideout, you'll first need to know how to pickpocket. Use the skill on Karad to grab the Mechanical Key and head through the illusion wall behind the guard dog. In there, you'll find the Underdark Elevator, with the key you just got serving to unlock it.
