Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.
Many have focused on changing the game by adding new questlines, fresh dungeons, and upgradeable shouts to it, with a few even going as far as giving the Dragonborn the chance to wield spells modelled on Geralt of Rivia’s Witcher signs or watch an NPC gradually restore a ruined house.
If you love heading across the border into Cyrodiil in order to explore the version of Bruma and its surrounding countryside added to the game by the massively popular Beyond Skyrim Bruma, a new mod might be worth taking a look at.
Feel like facing some more unique bandits next time you head to the home of the Imperials in Skyrim?
The mod in question is called ‘Lawless Bruma - A Bandit Overhaul for Beyond Skyrim Bruma’, and is the latest work of modder Ooreeoo. Some of their previous projects have ensured that the residents of Orcish strongholds will only use Orcish gear and given the Dragonborn a spell that’ll instantly teleport them to High Hrothgar.
This time, they’ve decided to apply the changes from their bandit overhaul ‘Lawless’ to the separate faction of brigands you can find across the landscape added to the game by Beyond Skyrim: Bruma, a massively popular mod that allows you to head south and explore some of Northern Cyrodiil.
Much like its predecessor for mainland Skyrim and Solsteim, this new work from Ooreeoo ensures that the bandits you’ll battle throughout County Bruma will represent more of a challenge, thanks to the implementation of combat archetypes within their ranks, many of which you might recognise from Oblivion and Morrowind.
On top of this, the modder has made sure that any highwaymen and women you encounter south of the border will still make use of Beyond Skyrim: Bruma’s unique weapons and armour within Lawless’ level-based gear progression system, as well as retaining their original voice lines, ensuring that Cyrodiil doesn’t lose some of its immersive flavour.
Ooreeoo also claims to have corrected a number of bugs affecting Beyond Skyrim: Bruma’s bandits, so you shouldn’t have to worry about encountering any pesky glitches while scything through the marauders of the Jerall Mountains either.
So, pack your bags, enlist the help of your most adoring follower and head south to batter some bandits. Also, make sure to follow us for more updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 and the interesting world of Skyrim modding, including our top mods of the month.
