Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.

Many have focused on changing the game by adding plenty of cosy player homes, completely overhauled mechanics and even spells modelled after Geralt of Rivia’s Witcher signs to it.

If your Dragonborn is in need of a new quest to head out on and doesn’t mind delving into an underwater dungeon filled with dark passages and unknown horrors, a new mod might be worth taking a look at.

Feel like risking ending up in a watery grave to complete this mysterious Skyrim quest?

The mod in question is called ‘Sirenroot - Deluge of Deceit’, and is the latest work of modder Everglaid. Some of their previous projects have given the Dragonborn the ability to navigate through their environment a lot more fluidly and be complimented for their lack of modesty.

This time, they’ve decided to create a lengthy and fully-voiced new quest centred around the discovery of a huge and mysterious Ayleid ruin beneath the waters of Lake Honrich, which you can get a taste of in the trailer below.

Taking some inspiration from the Tomb Raider and Dragon Age games, this mission will task you with taking on a “large puzzle dungeon with a focus on verticality, platforming, diving sections, water control, and shortcuts”, as its character-driven and choice-filled narrative, which even comes with its own cutscenes, progresses.

As you make decisions that drastically shape how the mod’s unique NPCs evolve and react to you, you'll be surrounded by breath-taking Ayleid architecture and be able to listen to an equally fantastical and foreboding soundtrack developed especially for the mod.

If you’re already considering packing your bags to go on this intriguing new adventure, you’ll first need to make sure your copy of Skyrim is updated to the latest version, before loading in and making your way to Riften, where a member of the Black-Briar family can be found looking for a final member to add to a team of divers preparing to head into the depths.
