After weeks of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 fans expressing their frustrations surrounding the number of hackers ruining matches, the team behind Ricochet anti-cheat has provided a long-awaited update.
Ahead of the Season Three update, Call of Duty’s anti-cheat has remained active despite a huge influx in cheaters managing to bypass the system. The issue became such a problem that players called out ‘lazy devs’ in a bid to highlight the issue. Following weeks of frustration, Ricochet has all kinds of tricks up its sleeve to stop hackers.
One particular feature that’s caught the eyes of fans is the ability to turn legitimate players invincible when encountering a cheater.
Invincible Call of Duty players to beat hackers?
The feature, known as the damage shield, adds a layer of protection against anyone the game believes is hacking. What’s even better is that the invincible player still has the ability to shoot back and send the hacker packing.
In addition to the damage shield, Ricochet has also launched improvements to detect any third-party hardware such as Cronus devices to prevent players from gaining an unfair advantage. Although controller pass-throughs aren’t as severe as seeing through walls, they are capable of providing lower levels of recoil and enhanced aim assist.
Judging by the comments, the change is a step in the right direction. “Good to hear that! As a console player, I hope it works for a fair match,” comments one fan.

Although improvements to stop hackers from ruining matches are a huge positive, fans of Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 continue to grow tired of the current cycle. Numerous streamers are heading back to Warzone 1 due to its fluid movement mechanics. Will anti-cheat changes entice them back to Al Mazrah? Only time will tell.
