When Capcom Fighting Collection 2 was announced, fans were sad to see the lack of Kyo Kusanagi on the box art. This is due to Terry Bogard’s explosion in popularity after appearing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, resulting in DLC cameos in games like Street Fighter 6. Funnily enough, a new bundle including both Fighting Collections has finally stopped this Kyo erasure and put him on the cover.

The Street Fighter social media page has revealed a new Capcom Fighting Collection bundle also coming out on May 16, packaging both anthologies in one neat purchase. It’s typical Capcom behavior since the company previously did this with the first Fighting Collection and the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection. Still, the company always goes out of its way to put some stellar art in these bundles and fans appreciate that.

Naturally, many fans were shocked to see Kyo Kusanagi front and center again with the other characters. Believe it or not, they don’t even put Terry Bogard in the promotional art, opting to put Mai Shiranui for obvious reasons. Making this box art more interesting is the inclusion of Ingrid from Capcom Fighting Evolution and Hinata from Project Justice.

Seeing Kyo back in the spotlight is great for King of Fighters fans since he’s still the face of that franchise. Even with new hero teams introduced, you’ll likely see Kyo on the cover of a new game, usually facing off against long-time rival Iori Yagami. It’s why fans were sad about the “Kyo erasure” to begin with since many feel he’s equal to Terry.

For those unaware, Kyo erasure was a term SNK fans used when they noticed how the character was getting shafted after Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard became popular following Smash. It became a running joke since he wasn’t featured prominently in Capcom Fighting Collection 2. While this probably won’t change things, a new King of Fighters game will likely come after Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, so SNK fans should relax.

That’s our analysis of Kyo erasure and how this new Capcom Fighting Collection bundle goes against it. If you want to check out more fighting game news, players can also read about fans modding Mai Shiranui’s best outfit into Street Fighter 6.
