Cyberpunk is back, baby! With all the changes that have been implemented in Cyberpunk 2077, both with the release of Update 2.0 and the Phantom Liberty DLC, some fans have been wondering whether Cyberpunk 2077 now includes New Game Plus.

Typically, a new game plus allows the player to replay the game's content in full, with all of their gear and abilities from their first playthrough already equipped. Enemies are tougher, often with new movesets, whilst powerful new gear and hidden content are also added to the game.

With a new ending being added to the game in the DLC, it seems very plausible that New Game Plus could have been added alongside it. A new game plus in Cyberpunk 2077 would be a great opportunity to check out all of the iconic weapons that have been added in the Phantom Liberty DLC.

Does Cyberpunk 2077 have New Game Plus?

For most players, Cyberpunk's final mission will be unlocked before they complete all of the side quests or gigs. For Phantom Liberty players, those who go straight through the DLC storyline will be able to unlock the ending before even meeting Panam. The nature of Cyberpunk 2077's potential early endings had left some hoping that CD Projekt Red would add a new game plus.

Unfortunately, there is no New Game Plus for Cyberpunk 2077, meaning that you'll have to complete all the game's content before triggering the final mission if you want to complete everything on a given save file. Additionally, it also means that there is no secret or hidden post-game bonus content for Cyberpunk 2077.

New Game Plus was seriously considered by Cyberpunk's developers in the run-up to the 2.0 release. Tweets from CDPR's lead level designer, Miles Tost, indicate that New Game Plus was being worked on at one point by developers, but seemingly didn't make the cut for update 2.0.

As Tost outlines in his tweets, many factors and aspects of the game would have to be tweaked or even fully redone to allow for a New Game Plus playthrough, from player upgrades and cinematics to vehicles unlocked by the player. It's likely that this is the reason behind the absence of a new game plus.
