Netflix’s Devil May Cry anime has fans everywhere buzzing, so rumors of a Capcom remake are interesting. Capcom has mostly focused on remakes for the Resident Evil series, so branching to Dante’s neck of the woods is refreshing. Only time will tell if Capcom actually remakes this beloved title, but fans would love the move.

According to a post from 4Chan, a remake for the first game in this series is supposedly being worked on by Capcom. Fans should take this with a grain of salt since it came from 4Chan, but the notorious site has gotten one or two things correctly before. It does make sense since the company does love remakes, but we’ll need official word from the company first.

To be fair, a remake for Devil May Cry would benefit this aging title. While this is a playable game that’s readily available in modern systems, this first entry is pretty dated. If the leak is to be believed, this remake will be similar to the Resident Evil remakes by reworking the story and using the beautiful RE Engine.

Hardcore fans of the franchise might find that blasphemous at first, but anyone who has played the first game from start to end knows its true. Combat-wise, it’s still a very solid and satisfying experience that most players can enjoy. Unfortunately, some of the endgame content leaves a lot to be desired, like the random shoot-em-up sections.

Capcom has done a good job of remaking games while keeping the original versions readily available. Fans can pick up HD versions of the first three Devil May Cry games right now, though we’d advise them to avoid the second entry. The original Resident Evil 4 is also readily available, even with its gorgeous remake around.

That’s everything we know about the rumored Devil May Cry remake. For more on Capcom, check out the rumored Resident Evil 0 remake and their high hopes for Monster Hunter Wilds.
