Though the arrival of Diablo 4’s Season of the Malignant was arguably overshadowed by a controversial patch, plenty of players have still delved into it and set about trying to find items that can take their characters to the next level.

Some of these hardcore Hellspawn have even managed to get lucky and, without the aid of any mods, stumble across a Malignant Heart that offers a permanent buff.

Unfortunately, it seems that a few of their Necromancer colleagues haven’t been having as good a time, thanks to a frustrating bug that’s seemingly been rendering some players unable to generate the Blood Orbs they need.

Does your Diablo 4 Necromancer build rely on Blood Orbs?

As highlighted by streamer MacroBioBoi in their latest YouTube video and some posts on the Blizzard forums, the issue in question looks to be affecting blighted Corpse Tendrils, an upgraded version of the Corpse Tendrils skill.

The upgrade, which gives Corpse Tendril attacks a 35% chance to create a Blood Orb during the process of pulling enemies towards the player and inflicting stun damage on them, is important to the very powerful and complex blood lance build that some Necromancers have opted for.

However, as MacroBioBoi demonstrates in the video, the bug seems to be stopping any Blood Orbs from being generated in this manner, with the streamer showing that, despite attempting to trigger the effect multiple times in a row, which should lead to a good chance of it happening at least once, it isn’t occurring at all.

“Obviously this isn’t intended [by the developers], this is some kind of weird issue that’s going on right now, but if you realise you’re not generating Blood Orbs from Corpse Tendrils, don’t think it’s just you,” they explained, adding that they’d made sure to unequip the Barber Malignant Heart from their build to ensure that wasn’t responsible.

As MacroBioBoi suggests, the issue isn’t likely to be a long-term one, with a fix probably arriving at some point soon, once Blizzard catches wind of what’s happening.

If you’re interested in learning more about other revisions that are already in the works for the game, you can tune into a Campfire Chat later set for to take place at 7PM today (July 28). Blizzard has already confirmed this discussion will include some information on the changes to classes that’ll be part of the game’s next big patch.

Update: Diablo Global Community Development Director Adam ‘PezRadar’ Fletcher has now confirmed in a tweet that the game's developers are investigating this issue.
