Since Diablo 4 arrived early last month, those who approached it with the perfect build in mind have been making great progress towards their goal of reaching peak performance and burying Hell beneath a mountain of enemy corpses.

With the game’s first season fast approaching, some of these hardcore hellspawn have recently been busy creating tools to help players assemble parties, predict enchanting outcomes or grind dungeons efficiently.

Now, however, the highly-anticipated patch Blizzard has just released seems to have killed a lot of the enthusiasm the game’s community has for it, with some going as far as calling for the Season of the Malignant to be delayed or declaring their intention to stop playing.

What do you think of the latest patch to arrive in Diablo 4?

Since the update, dubbed Patch 1.1.0, went live late yesterday, a number of outraged players have taken to the Diablo 4 subreddit to vent their frustration over its array of nerfs. Some of the most unpopular of these affect the abilities of the already weak Sorcerer class and the possibility of farming resources and experience by fighting higher level enemies.

“I've never seen such a large patch dedicated to nerfs, across the board! This is madness,” said user dangerousone326 in a post that saw them declare their intention to uninstall the game. Similarly, user TheMorals suggested in a separate post that the patch’s changes could turn playing the game into “a proper slog”.

Meanwhile, user Puzzled-Second-698 argued in their own post that Blizzard should either delay the game’s first season until the aspects of the patch that players have issues with have been re-examined, or revert the game to its pre-patch state before launching the season.

“I truly believe this is the singular worst major patch in ARPG history,” they added.

On the other hand, in a YouTube video discussing its contents, streamer Wudijo said of the patch: “Basically, it seems like no one likes it, (but), personally, I think it’s not (as) crazy as people (are making) it out to be.”

Acknowledging the vocal reception to the patch from players, Diablo Global Community Development Director Adam ‘PezRadar’ Fletcher has already announced that a Campfire Chat discussing it will be coming later this week.
