If you love to uncover mysteries in Disney Dreamlight Valley, the Rift in Time DLC was basically made just for you. Treasure hunters will have their instincts challenged more than most - some of Eternity Isle's best resources are hidden inside invisible rifts.

These rifts in time can be a real challenge to find, and if you've been decorating your island, you may find some almost impossible to reach. In this guide, we'll explain how to find rifts in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Before we get into the explanation, you may want to use our guides to getting Oasis Glass and Ancient Cores. We can also help you catch a Festive Squid.

How to find rifts in Disney Dreamlight Valley

When you've reached Eternity Isle and completed a few quests for Jafar, you'll eventually get your hands on a Royal Hourglass. Continuing through the expansion's storyline will make the hourglass more powerful, but it's ready to open rifts as soon as you get it.

To find rifts, you'll need to have the Royal Hourglass equipped and keep a close eye on it as you explore Eternity Isle or the regular Valley. The sand inside will tell you when there's something nearby with these colours:

  • Blue - there's a rift in the general area you're in.
  • Yellow - you're getting closer to the rift.
  • Orange / red - you're super close to the rift.

If you're struggling to find rifts in the valley, some players have noted that furniture can get in the way, so try redecorating or putting them in storage if it feels like the rift is impossible to find.

Finding the rift is only the beginning, however - the game wants you to mash a button to secure the treasure. The randomised loot will then be pulled out of the rift and can be collected like any other item. If you bring a villager who has the time bending role along, you may also find that the loot is doubled.

Before you start searching every square inch of the island, get some help with unlocking Jack Skellington in the Something Comes A'Knocking quest. You should also find out what Green Slivers are for, and start a secret quest by finding a golden potato.
