If you can't locate the Sphinx, start from Checkpoint Rest Town, and head north to the Ancient Battlegrounds area. You'll cruise past some broken bridges. Then, keep heading north past a castle, slip into the cave behind it, and follow the path up to the Sphinx's Mountain Shrine. You will find the first five riddles there.

After you crack all five riddles, the Sphinx will move and present you with five more riddles to solve, including finding her new location. The order of the riddles may vary, but you can complete them in any sequence you prefer. Before confronting the cunning witch, you'll have to deal with some formidable adversaries along the way. Each riddle will demand different approaches and wits to solve it, and below is the list of solutions.

Heed the Sphinx's instructions and descended the stairs to the dungeon below its shrine. There will be some distractions, such as hobgoblins and the Ogre, lurking within the tunnels. Just cast your eyes above the entrance to find a chest with a Sealing Phial inside. This is the prize you seek. Bring it back to the Sphinx to prove your wit.

Don’t be lured by other treasures deeper within the dungeon, for they are not what you need. Then, you'll be rewarded with a Wakestone and get to keep the Sealing Phial you just acquired because you'll need it to decipher the Riddle of Madness.

This riddle is about love and perhaps gift-giving as well. You need to identify with whom you share the deepest connection, or at the very least, the highest affinity. If you happen to be overly affectionate and have showered gifts on various NPCs, or if you are romantically involved with more than one of them, you need to check your affection levels to determine who has the greater affinity with you.

Then, bring that lucky one to the Sphinx. Use a Ferrystone to return to the Mountain Shrine and place your loved one on the pedestal. You can also use the sealing phial from the Riddle of Eyes to trap your loved one and present them to the Sphinx. Break the phial to release them and affirm to the Sphinx that this person is your beloved. Once it's done, you'll bag a Portcrystal.

To crack this riddle, you'll need to fetch a Capcom-created Pawn who has the alias “Sphinx,” as the riddle involves her parents. These special pawns can be summoned using a Riftstone of Fellowship.

Once you have one in tow, return to the Mountain Shrine and hoist the pawn onto your shoulders to reach the dais. The Sphinx must be standing on the platform for the riddle to be solved. You'll receive a generous 1,200 RC reward then.

The Sphinx decides she needs an item from your stash. Any item will suffice to solve her riddle, regardless of how seemingly irrelevant it may be or even if she says it must be as precious as life. The twist is, that she pledges to duplicate the item in return. You might feel tempted to discard lesser items from your inventory, but to play it safe, selecting a rare or one of your most prized possessions ensures a win-win situation.

Sphinx orders you this time to count on your memory. You need to recall where you discovered your first Seeker’s Token. It's somewhat elusive since it's not the type of thing you'd usually keep in mind, and it's usually found in different regions.

If you're still zoning out and unable to recall, avoid making blind guesses. This is the fifth riddle, but it's the first one with a time limit. You have seven in-game days to track down where you first stumbled upon it. Once you find the place, you'll discover a special item called a Finder's Token instead. If you get it right, you’ll be rewarded with three Ferrystones.

After solving the first five riddles at the Sphinx's Mountain Shrine, she will soar away, and you'll only crack this one by finding her. Head to Checkpoint Rest Town and then proceed westward along the river until you spot the Sphinx amidst the rain. After your interaction with her, she'll inform you of her new location at the Frontier Shrine.

To reach there, head south from the town, cross the river to the west, and ascend the ridge until you reach the shrine. You can also hitch a ride on her back as she flies southwest. When you make it to the Frontier Shrine, the riddle is solved, and you'll find a chest containing 100,000 gold awaiting you.

The Sphinx will trick your mind into believing this riddle is easy. She will summon an enemy for you to face, and not only that, she will oblige you to wear a cursed ring (Ring of Derision) that cripples your attacks and saps your strength.

You can win using your wits. Instead of facing it head-on, try to throw it off balance. Rush toward your enemy, firmly grip their balance, and watch them plummet off the cliff's edge. That's how you play smarter, not harder. And in return, the Sphinx will award you the Ring of Ambition, which is the polar opposite of a cursed ring.

Riddle of Recollection

This is the easiest to decipher of all the Sphinx Riddles on offer. The Sphinx will ask you to position statues based on the number of riddles you have solved correctly. The number of statues directly reflects the number of riddles you have correctly solved, including any previous ones.

If you have solved all the previous riddles and this one is the seventh, put down six statues. Make sure the statues are placed on the pedestal where you interact with her.

After placing the statues, interact with her again to confirm your answer. If done right, you'll be rewarded with an Unmaking Arrow. This is a one-time-use item, but it's potent enough to one-shot a foe.

Riddle of Futility

The Sphinx will ask you to transport a delicate amphora to Bakbattahl; she wants it delivered intact and unharmed. You need to ensure that your path is clear of threats. But it is almost unavoidable that curveballs will arise along the way, so your best bet is to handle them carefully as they come.

There's a marked location on your map that guides you all the way to Maurits. When you're good to go, retrieve the vase and decide how you'd like to travel. But avoid using fast travel methods like the Ferrystone because they're prohibited for this task. You can still hasten the delivery with an ox cart. Just be vigilant to avoid mishaps.

If you'd rather, you can walk but tread cautiously on foot to Bakbattahl. When you get there, head to the Mural Byway situated in the higher area of Bakbattahl. Maurits will be there to receive the vase from you, so ensure that it remains intact. Finally, return to the Sphinx and inform her that you have delivered it exactly as required. In return, she will give you an Eternal Bond ring.

The Sphinx will display an image of a plump, red-headed NPC wearing a white robe. You need to scrutinise their distinct traits, such as hairstyle, scars, and teeth. Dante has sleek hair and a straight scar across his eye, whereas Vergil has wavy locks and bears a ragged scar on his eye. Dante also has a full set of teeth, while Vergil does not. To find their whereabouts, check the NPC logbook history.

Dante is wandering near the market by the entrance of Checkpoint Rest Town. There's also another Dante at the entrance, but he's not the one you're after. The Sphinx is tricking you to throw you off. Meanwhile, Vergil is right past the gate in the same town. Once you find the right NPC, carry them to the Sphinx at the Frontier Shrine. After that, you'll be given the Whimsical Daydream weapon as a reward.

If deciphering riddles isn't quite your thing, have a gripping boss fight with the Sphinx instead. She's not exactly the type of monster you can defeat by flailing around blindly. Trying to defeat the Sphinx is like trying to crack a riddle.
