While they may not have gotten the massive DLC announcement they all crave yet, Elden Ring players, who now number 20 million, have still had new content to dig into, with the long-awaited Colosseum DLC providing a fresh challenge for many who now consider traditional boss battles to be old news.
However, for the most hardened of warriors, this battle arena clearly isn’t proving difficult enough, with the world of streaming, infamous for producing unorthodox playthroughs of the game, having featured the likes of voice-controlled, guitar-based and even dual device runs through The Lands Between in recent months.
Currently though, a number of Twitch’s top Tarnished have temporarily put down their dance pads and switched their key bindings back to normal in order to compete against each other in a Twitch Rivals tournament, which is set to rumble on over the next couple of days.
Will you be tuning into this intense war between Elden Ring royalty over the next couple of days?
The contest, which features as its esteemed grand prize a special pot friend figurine, is being contested by 16 teams, each composed of three creators and captained by a menagerie of FromSoft game stalwarts including Mendo, LilAggy and Larxa.
These souls-loving squads already have one day of competition under their belts, having spent the majority of a four-hour stream on the Twitch Rivals channel battling in a timed PvE achievement hunt followed by a separately scored PvP tournament in the game’s infamous colosseum.
The opening achievement hunt saw players challenged to defeat a Godskin noble three times faster than their opponents to earn maximum points, with bonus points being added to their score for each unique and legendary spirit ash they acquired in the process.
Coming out on top in this quest was the team led by Distortion2, who narrowly edged out LilAggy’s squad by the narrow margin of two points, thanks to some great work racking up spirit ashes.
On the PvP side of things, the team led by Maximum scored the most colosseum victories with nine, which was good enough to beat out valiant efforts from the teams led by lily_charles and Larxa.
With different teams occupying the top spots in the two challenge categories, everyone still has plenty to play for in the two streams that’ll make up the rest of the tournament, which you can catch by tuning into the Twitch Rivals channel at 2pm PT/5pm ET either today or on February 23, when the series is set to conclude.
