Since they finally received the massive DLC announcement they’d all been craving, Elden Ring players have all been basking in the warm glow of knowing that work on the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is definitely underway.
Many of these hardcore tarnished have already started diving into the intense training regimen, both in the Colosseum and against regular bosses, they’ll need to complete in order to refresh and hone their skills in time for its arrival, as well as trying to unearth clues as to what the DLC might involve.
Though, some seem more concerned about the interactions the expansion might involve if it does end up revolving around Miquella, who might not be a fan of some of the Tarnished’s actions throughout the main game.
Are you nervous about what consequences your actions in Elden Ring might have on the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion?
Their boss-based bother forms the subject of a thread on the Elden Ring subreddit, which user HahaLookyhere kicked off by posting a meme depicting a conversation between the Tarnished and Miquella about the fate of characters like Malenia, Rykard and Morgott, captioning it: “Well Miquella, I’ve got some bad news for you buddy.”
Their fellow players were quick to suggest a number of other awkward directions that this chat could go in, such as user DeathCook123 idea that the Empyrean might ask how his haligtree is doing or, as submitted by Rigel311, whether anyone’s been taking good care of the Albinauric population of the Lands Between.
User Q_X_R pointed out that even these exchanges would likely lead back around to an awkward discussion about Miquella’s fallen family members, declaring: “This just proves there is no possible route of conversation you can take that won't traumatise him.”
On the other hand, some users didn’t think Miquella would be too affected by some of the news, with AmazingMrSaturn saying: “People are underestimating Miquella based on his appearance. He's called the most fearsome Empyrean, and Morgott files him in the same category as Malenia.”, adding: “He's almost certainly another Ranni type schemer, and almost definitely not a cinnamon bun who must be protected.”
Meanwhile, user No_Pattern26 proposed that the Tanished’s positive relationship with Ranni the Witch might serve as their saving grace, with LionStar89_ transforming this fact into the bulletproof explanation: “We had our honeymoon on the moon, and when I came back (Miquella’s other relatives) were all just dead. (I’ve got) no idea how.”
