Cosy farming simulator Fae Farm has released a teaser trailer for its first content update, Coasts of Croakia. It will reportedly launch on December 14, 2023, free for all Nintendo Switch players and deluxe edition PC players.

In a short teaser posted to YouTube, very little is shown. Most of Fae Farm takes place on the island of Azoria, and the teaser shows several lily pads connecting its beach to a giant frog. This frog closely resembles the game's quest-giving magical creatures, making it likely that players will need to feed it before being teleported to an all-new area.

Glimpsed very briefly, this new area (presumably Croakia) is seen housing several frog statues, overgrown vegetation, and perilous cliffs. The game's developers, Phoenix Labs, have promised additional information in the days and weeks leading up to the DLC's release.

Inspection of the game's store page on Steam provides some much-needed detail. "This is only the beginning of your adventure in Azoria", it says. "[DLC will] be released to expand your horizons, unlock new areas to explore, introduce new characters to meet and bond with, reveal new creatures, tell new stories, and pour in more magic!"

Fae Farm has previously received criticism for its characters feeling hollow - a sentiment we shared in our review. One of the game's romance candidates, Argyle, features prominently in the trailer; hopefully, this indicates that characters' personalities will develop as the game is updated, or that newly introduced characters will provide more romance options.

Coasts of Croakia is unlikely to be the game's stopping point. Promotional material for the Deluxe edition makes it clear that one more content pack is planned, and as far as release dates go, a several-month range 'between December 2023 and June 2024' has been provided.

At time of writing, the cost of Coasts of Croakia has has not been announced for standard edition PC players. Fans have speculated a cost of £10, bridging the gap between the £29.99 standard edition and £49.99 deluxe edition.
