When they’re not playing with drones, fiddling with their power armour or decorating their settlements, Fallout 4’s Sole Survivor can often be found fending off the many dangers of The Commonwealth.

Whether it’s pre-war Chinese soldiers lurking below the soil, fearsome raider bosses looking for their next victim or imposing Brotherhood of Steel gunships patrolling the skies, the sheer range of enemies inhabiting the wasteland makes just staying alive a minor miracle.

If you’re a vault dweller who prefers using explosive ordinance, rather than high-tech laser weapons or modern ballistic hardware, to blast your way to safety, a new mod might be worth loading into your chamber.

Feel like your next Fallout 4 playthrough needs some explosive kick?

The mod in question is called ‘Handmade Rocket Rifle’ and is the work of modder DegenerateDak. Their previous projects have helped add a wide range of new weapons to the game, including the perfect stealthy SMG and a hatchet aimed at hardcore survivalists.

This time, they’ve decided to create a budget alternative to the expensive and rare missile launcher, which is perfect for those who’ve always been put off attempting an explosives-centric build by the need to rely on manually deploying grenades and mines.

Named the ‘handmade rocket rifle’, this early to mid-game weapon packs half of the punch of a true missile launcher, making it ideal for taking out groups of ghouls or raiders without having it be overpowered enough to easily get you through one on one fights against tankier enemies like deathclaws.

If you want to get your hands on it, you’ll have to make sure you loot every human enemy that spawns after you’ve hit level eight, as there’s a chance any gunners or raiders could be carrying either the rifle or some of the missiles it uses as ammo.

Alternatively, once you’ve stocked up on enough rad-x and radaway, you can head into the glowing sea and search for a unique variant of the rifle, which fittingly comes with a radioactive twist and can be found in possession of a scientist you’ll visit during the game’s main quest.

Regardless of whether your Sole Survivor is now filling The Commonwealth with enough bangs and booms to wake a sleeping super mutant behemoth, make sure to follow us for more updates on interesting mods like this one for Skyrim and Cyberpunk 2077.
