First off, we've got a few solid choices for starting Premier League goalkeepers. We ultimately went for Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale due to his higher OVR and fairly reasonable price, as a player who also received a huge stat boost this year.

Compared to reliable frontrunners like Jordan Pickford, you can't go wrong with Ramsdale. He's significantly taller than the Everton and England #1, and has equally good distribution and control with his feet.

It's slightly harder to find high-quality defenders for a cheap price, as they already seem to be skyrocketing in value. As such, we've gone for a back four with pacey full-backs who can bomb up the pitch, put crosses in, and make it back in time to defend. Those are Liverpool's Greek LB Kostas Tsimikas, and Spurs new boy Djed Spence.

In the core of the defence, pace is less of a concern over sheer strength and tackling ability. That's why we've gone for John Stones, the Manchester City CB who already clocks in fairly cheap, despite his 83 rating. Partnering him is Southampton's Mohamed Salisu, who has the highest PHY stats of the lot, even if he's a little slower.

Premier League midfielders are fortunately much easier to snap up, and while CAMs still tend to be fairly expensive, we've got a few good choices here. Leeds' Spanish #10 Rodrigo isn't the most impressive on paper, but with the right Chemistry Style equipped you can easily get his PAC, SHO, and DRI over 80. He has four star skills too.

In terms of more defensive midfielders, you're spoiled for choice. Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City is always a very good choice, and Yves Bissouma has enjoyed a generous upgrade this year. Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is also a good choice, though his speed and dribbling leave a lot to be desired.

Up top we've gone for two wingers and a striker, though there are so many ways to configure your attack this year. Richarlison, now the Spurs #9 after moving from Everton, is always a great early-game choice and this year is no different. Alongside returning Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, you can go with either and score plenty of goals.

Out wide, we've prioritised pace and dribbling ability. Brentford's Wissa has 86 PAC and 85 acceleration, allowing him to burst past defenders with ease to whip in a across. On the other side, Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea is much slower, but his 87 PAS and 83 DRI make him a prime crossing candidate and dead ball specialist.

That's it for our ideal Premier League starter team in FIFA 23. If you want to read even more on the game, we're here to help out. Check out the TOTW 1 squad to see which players are in form in the game's first week!
