The prospect of becoming a character like Han Solo, or close to him at least, is always exciting in a game. Fortunately, Star Wars Outlaws is coming out soon for gaming platforms, and living the space rogue's dream is closer to reality in a few months.
Outlaws will see the adventures of Kay Vess, an intergalactic scoundrel who plans to come out of a perilous heist with a huge score on the line.
While gamers wait for the release of Star Wars Outlaws, there are other titles that let players take on an outlaw's mantle. Spend time playing these titles and evading the law before the exciting intergalactic adventure releases!
Red Dead Redemption 2
Set in the twilight of the Old West of America, Red Dead Redemption 2 tells the story of Arthur Morgan, an outlaw trying to secure his future as his days of being a criminal catch up to him. Along with his band of troublemakers, which he considers family, Arthur does whatever it takes for them to survive.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has few detractors for good reason. The Western-themed open-world title from Rockstar possesses rich lore that is always fascinating. It is also meticulous in exploring the outlaw lifestyle through its immersive gameplay.
Cyberpunk 2077
Night City is a place where outlaws can thrive, corporate or otherwise. So long as they can withstand resistance, both from rival outlaws and the authorities. Survival relies on being more cutthroat than the rest.
Despite the mess it was during its launch, Cyberpunk 2077 was an impressive game. The RPG elements are immersive, and the combat can be action-packed or as calculated as the player makes it. More importantly, connivance with the figures in Night City is crucial to living another day.
Mass Effect series
Possibly the closest game to Star Wars Outlaws on this list, the Mass Effect series is usually considered one of the best video games ever, and for good reason. Imagination and ingenuity come together in this space opera, both in story and gameplay, and the gaming industry has been immensely better for it.
Throughout the main games, John or Jane Shepard must navigate intergalactic politics by making crucial decisions. The stakes escalate with every decision, as every event brings an ancient threat much closer to civilisation.
The Outer Worlds
Another intergalactic space opera, The Outer Worlds, lets players explore different planets while uncovering a corporate conspiracy. Like most games on this list, the player must forge relationships between factions to gain influence over significant events coursing throughout the game.
The Outer Worlds feature space colonies brimming with life. However, the surprises are whether these lifeforms are hostile or helpful to the player.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Sail the seas as an outlaw in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag! Another Ubisoft-developed title, this entry in their revered franchise sees the English privateer-turned-pirate Edward Kenway on his quest to redeem himself from the consequences of his selfish ways.
Naturally, the excitement in Black Flag comes from living a pirate's life! To this day, Black Flag remains the best pirate-based game, mainly because it contains superb naval battles!
Waiting for Star Wars Outlaws is a battle of attrition. But that doesn't mean there isn't fun to be had as release day draws near!
These games will keep players company until the day they start their roguish adventure in a galaxy far, far away!
