Genshin Impact Hydro traveller using ability

Genshin Impact Hydro traveller using ability

As is tradition with every newly available region, the Traveller gets to master a brand new element. Having already mastered Anemo, Geo, Electro, and Dendro, it's time for the Genshin Impact Hydro Traveller to make their debut. So read on to learn about their abilities and how to unlock them.

Traditionally, the Traveller has been a fairly lacklustre unit besides their capabilities for puzzle solving. Combat-wise, they've never stood above the crowd, and we'd like to see if Hoyoverse changes that. So let's also find out the best Hydro Traveller build and how strong it is.

While you're here, be sure to also check out our Genshin Impact guides on how to get to Fontaine as well as the best Lynette build.

How to unlock Hydro Traveller in Genshin Impact

You can unlock the Hydro Traveller almost as soon as you enter Fontaine in Genshin Impact. When you enter Fontaine, head towards to Statue of Seven, located near the entrance. Add the Traveller to your party and interact with the statue. You'll get the option for Elemental Resonance. This will unlock the Hydro Traveller, and you can unlock further constellations by making your way through the story quests and by collecting Hydroculi.

Genshin Impact Hydro Traveller abilities and playstyle

The Hydro Traveller uses the same basic sword attacks as all other variations of the Traveller. The elemental skill summons a tidal wave that deals Hydro damage, or you can enter an aiming mode that fires dewdrops and causes you to lose HP before unleashing the tidal wave. It's a fairly decent ability to apply Hydro to specific targets, but the HP loss and lack of mobility are drawbacks.

Their Elemental Burst unleashes a slow-moving Hydro bubble that damages and applies Hydro to enemies in its direction. It's not exactly a flashy move and doesn't provide too much damage either. However, it does scale with Max HP.

Best artifacts build

Vourukasha's Glow

Vourukasha's Glow is currently the best Artifact set for the Hydro Traveller due to its synergy with the kit. Your Elemental Burst damage is increased by 10%, and taking damage increases this by 80%, stacking up to five times. When used correctly with the Elemental Skill that drains your health, this can result in a mighty Elemental Burst.

Nymph's Dream

Nymph's Dream is also a good Artifact set if you want to deal consistent damage rather than a large burst. The additional Hydro DMG buffs add up to a whole lot of damage when used correctly. Make sure to stack a lot of Elemental Mastery.

Noblesse Oblige

Noblesse Oblige is also an excellent set if you're planning on playing the Hydro Traveller with a support play style. It adds damage to your Elemental Burst and buffs your team when you use it. Just make sure to prioritise Elemental Mastery and Energy Recharge with this build.

Emblem of Severed Fate

Emblem of Severed Fate on the Hydro Traveller is also a decent artifact set due to its Energy Recharge and Elemental Burst damage boost. These are both things that the Hydro Traveller is lacking, and this Artifact set can make up for the high energy cost and relatively low burst damage.

Best weapons build

Primordial Jade Cutter

Primordial Jade Cutter is considered their best in-slot weapon due to its solid crit rate and HP boosting stat. The Hydro Traveller has lots of max HP scalings, and this weapon provides lots of Damage and HP.

Key of Khaj-Nisut

Another sword weapon that boosts max HP, the Key of Khaj-Nisut is also an excellent option. It provides the most amount of HP out of any sword weapon with an HP bonus stat and a 20% boost from the weapon skill. Furthermore, you get Elemental Mastery scaling from the Max HP. Plus, you can also boost the Elemental Mastery stat for the rest of your team. It's a flexible option for a sub-DPS and support play style.

Sapwood Blade

A good F2P option that gives you a lot of Energy Recharge. It's best used with Dendro teams, as it can provide a solid Elemental Mastery buff to your DPS characters. Hydro Traveller is most likely to be used in Bloom or Hyperbloom teams, so this option is pretty good.

Best team build

DPS options

Ayaka, Hu Tao, Raiden, and Alhaitham will be your best choices for DPS characters to pair up with. You can build your team around the specific Elemental Reaction that results from the interaction between these DPS characters and Hydro Traveller.

Sub DPS options

Nahida, Xiangling, Xinqiu, Kazuha, and Fischl are all excellent sub-DPS options to build a team for the Hydro Traveller. Pair them up with the reaction you'd like to aim for with your DPS character.

Support options

Zhongli, Bennett, Baizhu, and Kokomi are all excellent support options that provide valuable utility. Zhongli provides a massive shield, Bennet provides a solid attack buff with healing and Baizhu and Kokomi provide Elemental application and healing.
