The release date of Grand Theft Auto VI was supposedly leaked, but fans are having a hard time buying it. While we do know that Rockstar Games will supposedly release the open-world shooter this year, the publisher has yet to comment on an official release date. A gaming store has since leaked it and claimed it was fake, but others are more skeptical.

Gaming store Xuruguay originally claimed that GTA VI would be coming out on September 17 this year. Fans on the game’s subreddit were immediately skeptical since it was the same release date as the previous installment, GTA V. Not long after, the company released a statement and “confirmed” that this wasn’t true.

Even after this, some fans still aren’t sure if this was an accidental piece of misinformation or the company trying to put doubt in our minds. After all, the game is coming out sometime this year and September would be a solid release date for the title. In the end, only Rockstar Games knows when the open-world shooter will be coming out.

GTA VI is arguably the most anticipated game of all time, with fans treating this release like it’s a gaming event. While the excitement for this title is still high, some fans are less excited since there are rumors that it will cost $100. Gamers are still getting used to the $70 price tag for modern games, with some feeling like most of these games don’t live up to those expenses.

It will be interesting to see if Rockstar’s efforts will be enough to convince fans of the price, though we would rather it be priced at $70. Considering the rumors that it will only be 30fps on modern hardware, fans are hoping that Rockstar makes this game worth it.
