Rockstar Games will finally reveal the first trailer of Grand Theft Auto VI next month, with many fans excited to see how the company will innovate once again. However, that innovation might come with a cost, as Rockstar is seemingly abandoning Social Club for something different when GTA VI comes around.

Twitter user videotechuk pointed out how Rockstar has seemingly dropped mention of Social Club on their websites, hinting at something new coming. Posts that previously had Social Club in them have now been replaced with Rockstar Games Platform, which seems to be a placeholder for something else.

How this will affect current members of Social Club is beyond us, but it seems GTA VI will be introducing something new. Why the company feels the need to completely redo its online service isn’t known yet, but fans can expect some kind of explanation when its replacement is revealed.

Social Club is an online gaming service made by Rockstar, which tracks your stats and lets players log in to the company’s game launcher. Through Social Club, players could launch Rockstar Games purchased from other platforms and play them on the Rockstar app. Most importantly, Social Club is needed so players can log in and play GTA Online, which is still ridiculously popular today.

Now that the GTA VI trailer is coming soon, it seems that Rockstar is starting from scratch when it comes to this new open-world entry. We don’t even know if this new installment will launch with its own version of GTA Online, though that wouldn’t be a surprise. Hopefully, current Social Club members aren’t left in the dark for long and they can get updates.

Admittedly, losing Social Club isn’t something the fandom is going to lose sleep over, as the app will likely be overwritten by the new one. Then again, if this new app has even more microtransactions than the current GTA Online, fans might riot.
