343 Industries’ Halo Infinite Season 5 adds a tonne of new options to the game’s Forge, including campaign AI for use in multiplayer. While some fans are using this new feature to make their own firefight skirmishes, one fan has decided to make a Halo Infinite Pokémon battler.

Shared on Twitter by user Dan the Bloke, the Halo fan has made a functional Pokémon Stadium with summonable creatures inside the multiplayer FPS.

Set in a recreated Pokémon battlefield complete with the iconic Pokéball on the green ground, Halo’s iconic enemies have been turned into pocket monsters to summon and battle. At the back of each player’s side, Grunts, Elites, Hunters and more are statically placed.

By selecting one of the alien enemies, you’ll grab a ball that can then be thrown into the field. Once the match starts, each enemy gets its own health bar and starts to fight the other team. Using their own weapons and equipment, the AI-controlled Covenant/Banished forces skirmish across the Forge-created battlefield.

While the Pokémon battler is quite basic at the time of writing, it’s incredible to see just what can be done with Halo Infinite’s version of Forge. The map maker was already the most detailed and powerful version of the software ever created, and 343’s addition of AI friendlies and foes has only made the toolkit even greater.

Other Halo creators are releasing some amazing sandboxes with the new and improved version of Forge. For example, one map shows a fight against a massive Hunter in suburbia, a terrifying use case for Halo’s hulking beasts.

Halo Infinite’s enhanced version of the Forge toolkit is one of the greatest map makers ever made, even besting Fortnite’s mode creator. With the game finally in a great place, everyone should give the game a go. After all, it is completely free.

Halo Infinite is available as a free-to-play game on Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC. The game can also be played via Xbox Cloud Gaming on mobile, PC and Xbox.
