The Stolen Cat Mummy quest will have you hit the ground running in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
This guide will help you navigate the twists and turns of this quest so you won’t miss any key details.
How To Find & Photograph the Stolen Cat Mummy Inscriptions
The first step to completing this quest is obtaining a camera.
Have a word with Antonio, who will direct you to his contact, Ernesto, at the post office.
Ernesto is willing to sell you a camera, but it comes at a steep price of £379.
If you're short on cash, Vatican City is where you’ll have to find resources.
Rummage through military tents, work through side quests, or locate hidden cash in the streets. Once you have it, you can dive right in.
How To Find the Cat Mummy Inscriptions
Four mysterious carvings are around the Vatican, each pushing Indy’s journey forward.
You’ll have to do some exploring and observing to find them, but if you’re short on time, here’s exactly where to look for each:
1. The Garden Courtyard
The first Strange Inscription is in a fenced-off garden near the main street of the Vatican.
After purchasing the camera, exit the post office and head to the right.
Head through the large doors leading into the courtyard, then search for another gate on the right.
Walk past the gate to enter the garden, where you'll find neatly trimmed hedges.
The inscription is on a small memorial in the back right corner. Set up your camera, get the shot right, and take the picture.
2. The Fountain in Belvedere Courtyard
The second inscription is close to a fountain in the middle of the Belvedere Courtyard.
Head back to the main courtyard from the garden and walk over to the fountain.
The inscription is on the right side of the fountain. Because of the camera setup, this one is a bit tricky, so you'll need to frame it just right.
Move around the fountain, tweak your angle, and zoom in until the brackets line up. Once everything is in place, take the photograph.
3. The Balcony Overlooking the Stage
The third Strange Inscription is on a balcony over a stage built by Blackshirts.
Check out the south end of Belvedere Courtyard; that’s where the stage is. Slip around to the back-right side of the stage to stay out of sight.
Use your whip to scale the scaffolding and reach the balcony above. When you reach the balcony, head right and follow it to find the inscription.
Knock out any guards if you have to, then adjust your camera to get the angle.
4. The Borgia Courtyards
The fourth and final inscription is located in the Borgia Courtyards. After the third inscription, walk across the balcony to the other side.
Enter the House of God corridor through the open window. Exit through another window on the far side, which leads to the Borgia Courtyards.
Head left to locate the scaffolding, then climb it to reach the last inscription.
Like the rest, make sure the brackets are lined up right before taking the photo.
How to Take the Perfect Photograph
Using the camera correctly is as important as tracking down the inscriptions to finish this quest.
Equip the camera by pressing up on the D-pad (or the appropriate hotkey if you’re on PC).
As you approach an inscription, a camera icon will appear to indicate a good time for a photo.
When you raise the camera to your eye, you'll see two brackets in the viewfinder: solid white and blurred.
The goal is to position the brackets perfectly in line:
- When the fuzzy brackets are too tiny and overlap with the solid brackets, you should either move closer or zoom in.
- If the fuzzy brackets are oversized and spill over solid ones, try stepping back or zooming out.
Once the brackets are lined up, the photo prompt will appear. Ensure the inscription is well-framed, then take the shot.
Once you’ve photographed all four inscriptions, your quest objective will update. Head back to Antonio at the library to go over what you discovered.
Antonio will review the images and highlight the key details to help you progress in the adventure.
