Life Is Strange: Double Exposure focuses on Max as she tries to solve the mystery of Safi’s death and prevent it in at least one timeline. The game also introduces various intriguing characters, including Gwen Hunter.
While these characters may not be directly connected to Safi's death, they do have their own backstories. This article will explain how to help her find the book she’s searching for.
How To Get Gwen's Book in Life Is Strange: Double Exposure
Gwen Hunter is a professor at Caledon University who has a sharp, no-nonsense personality.
One of your early tasks involves helping Gwen retrieve a book locked inside a display cabinet in the library.
Even though she’s not directly involved in Safi’s murder (at least for now), getting into these tasks could still help you find some important details for your investigation.
This occurs during Chapter 1 while waiting to see Yasmin Fayyad (Safi’s mom). While you roam the Admin Building, you’ll hear Gwen calling out for help from the library down the corridor.
She’s upset because a book she needs is locked inside a display cabinet, and she asks for your help to retrieve it. To start, interact with the cabinet and examine the lock.
Max will suggest you need something "skinny and curved" to pick the lock. You’ll come across a few objects that seem like they might work, such as a pen or scissors, but these items won’t help in this case.
Instead, you need a spoon, which can be found near the coffee machine in the waiting area outside Yasmin’s office. Once you retrieve the spoon, return to the cabinet in the library and use it to unlock the case.
Interestingly, another version of the book is located on Shelf 12 in the library. However, when you try to offer this to Gwen, she will reject it. In the cabinet is a special edition that is particularly important to her.
After you get the book for Gwen, she’ll thank you, which will lead to more discussions about her connection to the book and why it matters in the story. You can count on seeing Gwen again soon, likely in Chapter 2.
You’ll uncover more about why she wanted it by exploring areas like the Mail Room, where additional clues about Gwen’s backstory are revealed.
