Lords of the Fallen 2 Delayed to 2023 With Hopes to Revitalize the Series

CI Games have announced that the often-delayed Dark Souls-like Lords of the Fallen 2 is getting yet another delay, reportedly coming out sometime in 2023. This is the latest delay to hit the sequel, as Lords of the Fallen 2 was supposed to come out way back in 2017 and was also scheduled for a 2021 release before plans changed.

According to a financial report from CI Games (via PlayStation Lifestyle), the team is expecting Lords of the Fallen 2 to revitalize the franchise. During the report, CI Games claimed that this is their biggest project thus far and are hoping to capitalize on the fairly popular Souls-like genre, which continues to be a hit if Elden Ring is anything to go by.

Lords of the Fallen 2 Delayed to 2023 With Hopes to Revitalize the Series

Here’s a quote from the CI Games financial report:

“With the original entry garnering a player base of over 10 million players, it is vitally important that we re-engage this audience with the upcoming entry, while also capitalizing on the significant expansion of the action-RPG genre since the original’s release. Lords of the Fallen 2 will encompass a range of significant upgrades, including a new dark-fantasy aesthetic in keeping with the prevailing action-RPG tone, alongside a fully revised, more challenging combat system.”

Lords of the Fallen 2 will likely come to next-gen systems like PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with a small possibility of PS4 and Xbox One ports in 2023. Curious fans can pick up the original Lords of the Fallen now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
