How do I pass in Madden 23?
Passing in Madden 23 is fairly similar to the control scheme used in previous games in the franchise. However, it can still be quite intimidating to newcomers, with attackers running in disparate directions across the field.
When you've got control of the ball and prepare to attack, you're given a choice of plays to run. You'll see a diagram of each one, with arrows showing the direction in which each of your teammates will run, aiming to be open enough to receive the ball. Select whichever one seems best for your scenario, taking onboard your trainer's tips.
When you've selected a play, hold down RT/R2 before initiating the snap. This brings up the button shortcuts for passing to each individual player. It tends to be the various face buttons, with bumpers included too if you've got a lot of runners. From there you can decide which pass to aim for.

Next, press A to trigger the snap. This sends the ball into your quarterback's control, and starts the scramble of opposition defenders trying to tackle you. The button prompts once again appear above each player.
With the snap activated, press the face button of the corresponding runner to throw the ball towards them. A light tap of the button will float the ball in the air, with a longer press resulting in a more powerful drilled pass. Each have their benefits and weaknesses, so you'll need to constantly shake things up to keep your opponent from predicting your next move.
The accuracy of each pass will depend on the throwing stats of your quarterback, as well as the speed and catching ability of the receiver. As expected, slightly lower rated players may struggle to hold onto some of your more audacious passes.
Nonetheless, Madden 23 fans will no doubt be happy to know that the core passing mechanics are more or less the same as previous years. It means you can dive back into the game without having to worry about a learning curve!
