Marvel Rivals recently launched and had a massive peak of 444 thousand players on Steam. Considering that it is free to play and is a Marvel game, it's impressive to see these numbers after August 2024 gave us the 607 peak player count of Concord.
The third-person shooter game features fan-favorites such as Iron Man, Hulk, and Dr. Strange among many others in 6v6 competitive matches similar to those of Overwatch. One particular character, while isn't as popular as the rest of the roster, dominates the game with his hilariously interesting ultimate skill.
Jeff The Land Shark may not be familiar to those who have limited knowledge about Marvel, but he was Gwenpool's pet and was first introduced in West Coast Avengers Vol. 3 #7 in 2019.
Now that he's in the latest Marvel Rivals game, fans are loving him not just because he's adorable but also because he can annihilate whole enemy teams at once.

Posted on Reddit by user u/Trizept, they showcased their Jeff gameplay as they swallowed an entire enemy team using Jeff's ultimate. They then proceeded to swim to the edge of the map where they threw all the enemies out, resulting in a team wipe.
Helplessly watching your team get bounced around by Jeff, only to be thrown off the map, probably feels like eating Nutella with pasta—morally and visually unforgivable.
While many fans think it's hilarious that you can do that on a PvP game, some others think that it's the first sign of toxicity in the game. One Redditor stated that the ultimate skill is "pure cancer", while some think that the ability needs to be nerfed for balancing concerns.
Competitive games like Marvel Rivals often need some patch updates and meta changes to make sure that it is still fun while being balanced for everyone. Funny as it is, players don't want to see Jeff spitting whole teams out of the map to become the meta.
