Everyone's favorite X-Man differs, but we're sure we can all agree when we say that Magik, aka Illyana Rasputin, features in everyone's top 10. In our Marvel Rivals Magik guide, we'll show you why that is by showcasing her abilities, skills, and costumes.
Magik is a unique hero who is brusque and doesn't take fools lightly, and her skill set in Marvel Rivals perfectly conveys that. As a melee character though, it will take a good understanding of her abilities and how to play her well before you're slicing and dicing.

Magik's abilities in Marvel Rivals are:

- Limbo's Might (Passive) - Magik converts damage inflicted on enemies into Bonus Health.
- Disc Master (Team-Up Abilities) - Magik opens a portal that Black Panther can use.
- Health - 250
- Class - Duelist (DPS)
Taking a look at Magik's abilities, it's no wonder she's three-star difficulty. She's a competent melee DPS, making up for the shortcomings of similar characters like Black Panther thanks to improved survivability, but there's more than meets the eye when it comes to her kit.
How to Play Magik in Marvel Rivals
With a three-star difficulty rating, Magik might seem like an unwieldy character at first, but once you understand her capabilities, she can be one of the most powerful additions to your team. She's easily capable of wiping out enemies with a slash of her sword and the power of the Darkchild.
As a melee DPS character, Magik is at her best when she's in the front and hacking away at the enemies. She has a teleport jumping ability, Stepping Disc, which allows her to move around the battlefield with relative ease. While the distance between her Stepping Discs is relatively short, she does become invulnerable for a brief moment which, arguably, makes or breaks a combat encounter with her.
Likewise, Magik has numerous dashes that let her engage and disengage from fights, which is crucial for melee characters. This makes her a good candidate for a damage dealer who can position herself and attack enemies with a speed that not many other characters can match.
Magik's biggest strength is her passive ability, Limbo's Might, which allows the damage she deals to her enemies to be transformed into extra health. Pair this passive with her Q ability, and Darkchild and Magik can be a very difficult character to kill, especially if there's a supporting character keeping her nice and boosted.
The most important feature to remember when playing Magik, however, is that your abilities change depending on the move used before. For example, your alternate attack changes to a completely different skill after using Stepping Disc. As such, knowing what ability you should or shouldn't use before casting another is crucial. For example, to start a fight, a good combo is to cast Stepping Discs, then Demon's Rage, before dashing in with Umbral Incision, Soulsword, and Magic Slash.
Marvel Rivals Magik Costumes and Skins
Magik has only two skins in Marvel Rivals, but we expect that will change when the game is fully released. These skins and costumes are:
- Classic Magik
- Amethyst Magik
Magik is similar to The Hulk in that her cosmetics correlate with her Darkchild counterpart. So, be extra alert when choosing which skin you like. There's nothing quite as bad as choosing an outfit that works in one form but looks like a total mess in the other.
That's all you can expect from Marvel Rivals' Magik, including her abilities, costumes, and how to play her properly.
