Whether he's called Erik Lehnsherr, Max Eisenhardt, or Magneto, the Master of Magnetism has never been one to hide, no matter the odds. This is true even in his role in Marvel Rivals. In this Marvel Rivals Magneto guide, we'll highlight why the X-Men's rival, sometimes leader, is the character to play by showing off his skills, abilities, and costumes.
As a Vanguard (Tank), Magneto's main priority is supporting the more DPS and Support heroes on his team. Yet with such a high amount of health, he isn't one to go up against alone.

Marvel Rivals Magneto Abilities
Magneto's abilities in Marvel Rivals are:
- Iron Volley (Left Click) - Magneto fires a volley of magnetic orbs forward. These also cause AoE damage to enemies near the impact.
- Mag-Cannon (Right Click) - The iron rings on Magneto's back transform into a Mag-Cannon that launches a metallic mass forward. The more rings, the higher the damage.
- Meteor M (Q) - Magneto uses his powers to draw in matter and projectiles to forge an iron meteor. He can then launch this meteor, delivering catastrophic damage to the targeted area on impact.
- Metallic Curtain (L SHIFT) - Magneto charges a magnetic shield as a curtain, blocking all projectiles. Melee damage is not blocked.
- Metal Bulwark (E) - Magneto forms a metal shield around an ally. Damage taken to the shield will form into rings on Magneto's back that can be consumed using Mag-Cannon.
- Magnetic Descent (Passive) - Magneto can fall to the ground slowly by pressing SPACE.
- Metallic Fusion (Team-Up Abilities) - Scarlet Witch can infuse Chaos Energy into Magneto to enchant his greatsword. Upon receiving this energy, Magneto can unleash its full force, striking down enemies with his sword via this unique ability.
- Health - 650
- Class - Vanguard (Tank)
Belonging to the Vanguard class, Magneto is a tank. However, he has significantly lower health than Groot, arguably the best tank in the game right now. Magneto makes up for this with various defensive and offensive abilities that allow him to pack quite a punch while keeping allies safe.
How to Play Magneto in Marvel Rivals
With a two-star difficulty rating, Magneto is one of the easier heroes to understand in Marvel Rivals. He has a high amount of health, can move fairly quickly, hovers briefly in the air as he descends, and can throw out shields of magnetism to support others (and himself). With all this in mind, it makes sense to play Magneto as a character who's on the defensive, helping out his fellow allies and dealing damage whenever possible.
However, I find that Magneto is at his best when he disrupts the other enemy team by being right in the thick of things and forcing enemies out of position. His Metal Bulwark ability, paired with his high health, allows him to protect others while also boosting himself with the rings on his back. Once those rings are transformed, they pair nicely with the Mag-Cannon, damaging and potentially destroying the enemy with one precise shot.
Just remember that Magneto can't block melee damage with Metallic Curtain, so if you're against the likes of Magik, then you'll have to play smart or swap.
Ultimately, Magneto is incredibly versatile, and there's no real wrong way to play him. But to get the most out of him and his capabilities, I recommend taking up as much room as possible with him in a fight. He's large and destructive, and with the right support, he can be a real detriment to enemies on the battlefield.
Marvel Rivals Magneto Costumes and Skins
At the time of writing, Magneto only has two skins in Marvel Rivals, but we expect that will change when the game is fully released. These skins and costumes are:
- Classic Magneto
- Uncanny Blacksteel
Magneto's looks do not change all that much, with the original being his classic red look, whereas the Blacksteel dresses him in sleek, opaque black. It's a shame that, unlike Storm, he didn't get a new look from the X-Men 97 animated series, but perhaps we'll see more of that in the future.
Well, that's what you can expect from Marvel Rivals' Magneto, from his abilities and how to play him, to all the costumes and skins you can get for him.
