Modders on PC are constantly changing up the protagonist of games in order to make things a little more surreal and amusing.
No matter whether it’s Sonic or Morbius in Skyrim, DC superheroes or Mario and Luigi in Elden Ring or Master Chief in Yakuza Zero, these mods are always fun, and now that Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered has made its way onto the cursed platform, it’s become a part of the trend.
First, it was Kermit the Frog grappling his way through the streets of New York, then Homer Simpson decided to put down the doughnuts and fight crime. Now, though, it’s the turn of everyone’s favourite under-sea pineapple dweller.
Bikini Bottom’s fry cook gains the kind of powers that can’t be conveyed via a seaweed moustache
The mod that brings the animated sponge to land is naturally called ‘SpongeBob SquarePants Mod’ and is the work of modder Jejepurp, who’s decided to re-create a fun little mod they made for Spider-Man: Web of Shadows back in 2011.
This time though, they’ve decided to give the spider-sponge a bit more of a cartoony appearance, utilising the Bombastic Bagman suit to give the model as square a head as possible and emblazoning its chest with the inspiring image of a Krabby Patty, as you can see in the video below.
If the idea of a superhero being used to advertise fast food doesn’t sit too well with you, don't worry, as a bunch of other skins inspired by non-corporate characters from throughout gaming have also been released recently and might be more up your alley.
The first of these is Princec23’s ‘Donkey Kong’, which replaces the advanced suit with everyone’s favourite banana-eating Nintendo gorilla, Donkey Kong, whose platforming prowess will likely stand him in good stead to master the rooftops of the metropolis, as you can see in the video below.
The second should be just as good at scaling buildings and climbing to great heights, with Sliderv2’s ‘Ezio Auditore da Firenze’ giving you the chance to play as the legendary Assassin’s Creed protagonist one more time, even if you’ll have to forego access to his hidden blade.
So, dust off your super suit, get ready for some surreal swinging and make sure to follow us for more updates on the wacky worlds of Fallout and Skyrim modding.
