It looks like the rumoured Metal Gear Solid remake is still in development, with plans to release this after the recently-announced Metal Gear Delta. Based on these rumours, it looks like Konami wants to re-release these games in “chronological order,” making the story easier to follow for newcomers.

Spanish website Areajugones (via Gameort), claims that the current plan is to release Metal Gear Delta first and then prioritize the Solid remake. These reports also claim the Solid remake will only come out on PlayStation 5, skipping out on PS4, which is slowly becoming less surprising.

"Multiple sources tell us that Konami is still working on a remake of the first installment, although right now Metal Gear Solid Delta is a priority in the studio,” claims Areajugones.

Admittedly, Metal Gear Delta was announced for PS5 and Xbox Series, so there’s a very good chance that the Metal Gear Solid remake could also go multi-platform. Fans will probably have to wait a bit since Sony has been able to work out exclusive deals with Konami, like the Silent Hill 2 remake.

We’ll have to wait for these rumours to pan out since the Metal Gear Solid games haven’t been exclusive to PlayStation for some time. Despite the original MGS games only being released on PlayStation systems, recent re-releases have brought these titles to Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Until then, fans still have the Metal Gear Delta remake to look forward to. For those unfamiliar, this is a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which is often cited as one of the series’ best titles. Bringing it back before the first Metal Gear Solid remake is a smart move, though if they were going through the true chronological order they would also remake the PSP and NES games.

Don’t expect to see the Metal Gear Solid remake pop up anywhere anytime soon, as Konami will make a big deal about this, eventually.
