Modern Warfare 3 fans are hoping the game contains some old-school game modes to go along with the return of some old-school maps.

To celebrate 20 years of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 will launch with the 16 multiplayer maps that were released when 2009's Modern Warfare 2 hit shelves 14 years ago.

With many looking forward to loading into the likes of Rust and Highrise once again, some are hoping Sledgehammer Games continues the trip down memory lane. Instead of adding even more new game modes alongside Cutthroat, fans are starting to wonder whether some old-school will make their long-awaited return to Activision's shooter series.

In a bid to find some answers, user STRoke_Face_1 took to Reddit asking if some hugely popular modes from previous titles would reappear.

The player says: "Honestly, some of the best times I had gaming was MW2 Demolition games. I had a blast playing the beta. I really wish they would bring back Demolition. They bought Headquarters back and I was excited for its return. Demolition would be just as big."

It turns out the demand for the return of Demolition is high. Another fan adds: "I've said this before but if they truly can't get the spawns right, I'd rather play Demolition."

In addition to Demolition, there are calls for other old-school game modes to join the usual inclusions of Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, and Free for All. One player thinks: "They [Sledgehammer Games] should bring back Sabotage. I loved playing that game mode on the OG MW2."

Although it's unclear if the likes of Demolition and Sabotage will return in Modern Warfare 3, their appearance would prove popular for players looking for alternatives to Domination and Kill Confirmed in order to rank up fast.

If these classic modes don't appear when the game launches, there's always a chance Sledgehammer Games adds them in the Season 1 update which is bound to contain a wealth of new content for multiplayer.
